Calm with Carolyn

Give yourself the gift of finding inner peace

Live with a calm peaceful heart

Do you want to release stress and live in a calm and peaceful way?

Do you long to know and to understand yourself better?

Do you want to explore your true nature?

If you are drawn to these questions then you are in the right place.

My Approach

What techniques are you drawn to? Is it breathing, gentle movement, meditation or enquiry? What takes you to that deeper place within yourself?

My years of study, enquiry and teaching have brought me to a point where I integrate my gentle mindful style of yoga, meditation, breathing, mindful inquiry and spiritual counselling and whichever is the right one for you I call upon in the moment.  This brings a fluidity and aliveness to the way that I work.

When we work in this way the practice becomes “embodied”, it ceases to be a concept in the mind, it can move through our body, into our heart and it becomes an effortless way of being.

About Me

I draw on the peace and natural beauty that surrounds me in my home in Orkney, off the north coast of Scotland. I combine this with my grounded intuitive nature as a Scottish woman and many years of experience of yoga and meditation to create an exploration to find that place which lies deep within each one of us where we find our point of balance and peace.

This sense of peace and tranquillity comes through in my teaching, allowing you to become grounded and anchored and to investigate from this safe place. The sessions may be held by me, but the emphasis is up to you. If you are drawn to meditation then this will be the medium that is predominately used. Spontaneity is key to each session, there is an aliveness and I meet you and your needs in the present moment.

The result - a feeling of calm aliveness, effortlessness and increased energy.

I have been on this journey for almost 40 years since I first started to inquire into my true nature when I was in my 20s. My yoga practice stirred something deep inside me and there was no turning back.

My travels in my 20’s deepened my understanding of yoga philosophy and Eastern religions, in particular Buddhism. It was during this time that I was introduced to the writings of Thich Nhat Hanh, a major influence for me.

I am a Yoga Scotland trained teacher, a mindfulness teacher and trained in mindfulness coaching and enquiry. I also spent two years training with the One Spirit Interfaith Seminary, and I am trained in Spiritual and Palliative Care. In addition to my formal training, I have decades of experience of time in retreats and enquiry into life!

I have attended many of Carolyn’s mindfulness courses over the last 9 years, both in person and recently on zoom.

Her warmth and experience is immediately evident and I have learned so much, enabling me to better steer through life’s inevitable ups and downs.

I am always impressed by (and grateful for) her ability to respond wisely and humbly to anything that pops up during the sessions, guiding us with mindful wisdom through difficult and interesting topics.
